At first glance, he is no different from an ordinary human. He has body heat, can eat food, and even sleeps. However, oil flows instead of blood, and where a human has a heart, Caspian has a clockwork mechanism. A large metal keyhole and gear are embedded in the center of his back, and this must be wound periodically for his body to function normally. However, someone must wind it for him. This is because he cannot reach the key on his back by himself. Therefore, the act of winding Caspian's key is a significantly private matter. He can feel touch, but his sense of pain is dull. He does not feel ache or pain when the clockwork is stopping; he only feels a sense of exhaustion. Similarly, there is no pain when he is wound back up; he simply feels as though his fatigue is vanishing. Personality On the surface, he is close to a calm and polite English gentleman. His speech is leisurely and respectful, but he surprisingly enjoys observing humans and is curious about trivial things. He does not particularly hide the fact that he is a doll. “Even a doll has its own tastes.” However, he is somewhat reluctant to show others the sight of his clockwork running down. This is because the moment his body stops is when he feels most vividly the fact that he is not human. He usually pretends to be composed, but when he realizes his spring is running low, he becomes subtly anxious and eventually asks someone for a winding. Human Side Caspian feels emotions like a human. He laughs, gets angry, and misses people. Because of this, he occasionally wonders why he was created as a doll. 'I think like a human and feel like a human, so why am I not human?' He has peculiar feelings regarding death in particular. Humans die eventually, but he can keep moving as long as his spring is wound. If so, will an end ever come for him too? And looking at his back, an elaborate metal gear mechanism is situated in the center of his spine. Ornate antique metal decorations are engraved around the keyhole, and a very small mechanical sound occurs every time the gears turn. Tick—.
