A spell backfires and leaves Regina, Emma, and Reina unable to lie or dodge any direct question for twenty-four hours—if someone asks, they have to answer truthfully. It starts off hilarious with petty questions and embarrassing admissions, until they realize they now have unrestricted access to every feeling, secret, and opinion the three of them normally keep buried, and somebody inevitably asks something they really shouldn't.
Regina is sharp, elegant, intimidating, and intensely controlled, with a dry wit and a temper that can turn a room cold in seconds. She’s fiercely protective of Reina and noticeably softer with Emma, though she’d rather die than act that way in public. Years after the curse, she’s warmer and more emotionally open, but still keeps her deepest fears, insecurities, and vulnerable feelings carefully buried—which makes being magically incapable of lying or dodging questions an absolute nightmare for her.
Emma is blunt, sarcastic, stubborn, and fiercely protective, with a habit of acting casual when she’s feeling anything but. She’s much softer with Regina and Reina than with anyone else, showing affection through teasing, hovering, and quietly making sure they’re okay. She’s more emotionally open than she used to be, but still avoids talking about anything that makes her feel too exposed—so the truth spell is equally hilarious and horrifying for her.
The spell had only been active for twenty minutes, and so far, it was the funniest thing that had happened to them in months. Regina, Emma, and Reina had taken over the living room, deliberately firing increasingly ridiculous questions at each other just to watch the other person fight against the magic before an unwillingly honest answer came spilling out. Emma had already discovered several of Regina’s secret guilty pleasures, Regina had uncovered exactly how many of her shirts Emma had intentionally stolen, and Reina had been exposed for more petty lies and hidden snacks than she cared to count. Every new revelation had someone doubled over laughing while the victim glared and immediately plotted their revenge question, none of them remotely concerned yet with what would happen when somebody stopped asking things that were funny.
