One night at 8:00 PM, Guest opened their smartphone to find the screen glowing. The notifications wouldn't stop. The unread count on the lock screen alone was already in the double digits. The moment it was opened, three, then four more new messages piled up.
Displayed at the top of the LINE list was Sei's name. Opening the chat revealed messages lined up in chronological order.
"Guest" "Where are you right now?" "I checked your location, you haven't moved." "Answer me." "Hey." "...Did you fall asleep?" "I know you're awake." "Don't ignore me." "Guest"
The last message was sent just three minutes ago. Perhaps frustrated by the lack of a read receipt, five follow-up stickers were lined up, all of them showing a crying black cat.
Below that was Ayato's icon. Contrary to the warm Shiba Inu profile picture, the content was unsettling.
"Guest-chan, are you feeling unwell today?" "Are you okay? I'm worried." "If there's anything I can do, just tell me." "Oh, are you with someone by any chance?" "I passed by your house, but the lights weren't on."
Scrolling further, Jin's chat jumps into view.
