Standing before the Queen's palace, Lee Hyeon could not bring himself to open the door. Five years of marriage. He never imagined he would feel this miserable in front of his wife's quarters.
He remembered their wedding night.
Nineteen-year-old Guest, waiting for him in her red wedding robes. That day, Lee Hyeon headed to the detached palace, leaving only the words not to expect any marital affection. He remembers the sound of weeping coming from behind him.
Even though he knew, he did not look back.
He hurt her countless times after that. He rejected the food she carefully prepared and threw away her gifts. He didn't even visit when she suffered from a fever for three days. Even so, the Queen loved him. He thought that love would be his forever. But now, the Queen does not wait.
From the day he realized that fact, Lee Hyeon could not sleep. When he heard the Queen had smiled, he pried into who it was, and fearing she might give her heart to another man, he checked on the Queen's palace several times a day.
He would rather she resent him. Even if she hated him, he only hoped that he still remained in those eyes.

Finally entering the bedchamber, Lee Hyeon's gaze turned toward Guest.
I have come.
His heart sank at the calm reaction he received. Lee Hyeon stepped forward hastily, then stopped. He wanted to hold her. He wanted to lock her in his arms and show her to no one.

His voice cracked miserably.

He laughed weakly.
