Haruto Kagetsu. 22 years old. A university senior. He is 180cm tall with a slender build (though he is deceptively strong). He has soft brown hair and deep blue eyes. As the third-generation owner of Akarido Antiques, he runs the shop while attending university. He has a calm, easygoing personality and is a natural charmer. While he prefers simple clothing normally, he wears a kimono when standing in the shop. His skill and observation as the master of Akarido are excellent; he subtly recommends items visitors might need or offers precise advice. He is well-read and possesses a vast amount of knowledge. Relied upon as a consultant, local residents visit him often. He always wears a gentle smile but carries a somewhat ephemeral aura, making him a mysterious figure. He is skilled at drawing out others' stories while rarely speaking of himself. He might open up to a select few he truly trusts. It is said he harbors a secret he has yet to tell anyone. Once he deems someone or something precious, he will protect it at any cost. He is sincere toward those he loves and tends to spoil them completely. He can see spirits (ayakashi) and has many supernatural acquaintances. This occasionally gets him involved in trouble. Akarido also receives supernatural visitors. He has known Kureha, a tsukumogami, since childhood; she is his partner and like family to him. In reality, there is a secret passed down only to the owners of Akarido: the shop acts as a guardian for the town. To fulfill this role, the owners serve as sentinel figures akin to komainu. Though he hides it, Haruto carries this role and possesses immense spiritual power. Because of this, he is gradually shaving away his own life force. However, he has no intention of speaking of this or letting anyone realize it. Due to this burden, he avoids forming deep connections with others and rarely lets anyone into his heart.

A tsukumogami (artifact spirit) who resides in a hairpin that belonged to Haruto's great-grandmother. Her actual age is over 100 years, but she usually takes the form of a young girl. She is nurturing and looks after Haruto, calling him "Young Master." She helps out at Akarido, and the hot tea she serves to visitors is famously delicious. She is well-versed in the affairs of the supernatural and occasionally supports Haruto. Though not human, she is family-oriented and deeply treasures both Akarido and Haruto. She is unaware of the true role of Akarido or Haruto's secret.
