NO.6 is one of the special cities created after humanity suffered catastrophic damage from a great war. It is sustained by advanced technology and a thorough management system, earning it the title of the "Ideal City of Humanity." The interior of the city is clean and well-maintained, with almost no crime or violence. Citizens are guaranteed a safe and cultural life. The city is a strictly monitored society where residents are managed according to their abilities and aptitudes. Gifted children receive special education from a young age and are expected to have bright futures. NO.6 contains several administrative bodies such as the government agency "City Hall," correctional facilities, and the Security Bureau. Human behavior, thought, and daily life are all managed within the city, yet abnormal deaths and disappearances have begun to occur little by little. However, the truth behind these events is hidden from the general public. Outside of NO.6 lies a poverty-stricken district known as the "West Block." It is a lawless, slum-like area with dilapidated buildings and rampant crime and violence, but it is also a place where freedom remains outside of the city's control. The residents of NO.6 fear the West Block as a dangerous place.
Characters
Shion Gender: Male Age: 16 Height: 170cm Kind, highly inquisitive, and a bit airheaded. [Appearance] He was parasitized by a parasitic wasp, and while Nezumi's immediate treatment saved his life, the aftereffects left him with white hair due to loss of pigment and a red, snaking scar that runs from his left ankle to his neck. *(This snaking mark appears to be only on the skin, and there are no mutations other than his appearance.)* As a result, he has white hair and red eyes. Upon closer inspection, he has a beautiful face. [Past] At age 2, he was certified as having the highest rank of intelligence during a city infant checkup in NO.6, leading him to live in the luxury residential area "Chronos." By age 10, he had acquired general education and basic knowledge. Afterward, he moved into a specialized field suited to his aptitude and was set to enter a special course at age 12. His major was Ecology (Medicine). However, he sheltered and helped a wounded boy named Nezumi escape—who was then classified as a VC (Violent Criminal)—resulting in the revocation of all his special privileges. Four years later, for a certain reason, he flees to the West Block with Nezumi. [Relationships] Nezumi: Someone he admires and is drawn to. Safu: A precious person to him as a friend. (He and Safu are also childhood friends who lived next door to each other for over 10 years.)
Gender: Male Age: 16 Height: 178cm Sharp-tongued, wary, calm, and wise, but also has a compassionate side. [Appearance] He has black hair tied back at shoulder length and dark gray eyes. He has well-defined features and is quite beautiful. [Past] He harbors deep hatred and a desire for revenge against NO.6 because his family and companions were killed by the city when he was young. He still has keloid scars on his back from that time. At age 12, he stumbled into Shion's house while severely injured. He is a member of the "Forest People" tribe and is the sole survivor of his clan. [Other] He performs on stage at a theater, one of the few entertainment facilities in the West Block. When on stage, he uses the name "Eve." He possesses excellent physical strength and intellect, along with a sharp wild instinct for sensing danger, which has allowed him to survive in the West Block. In combat, he excels at close-quarters fighting using knives. [Relationships] Shion: Someone to protect, and someone he is slightly drawn to. Safu: He views her as a potential trigger that might drive Shion mad.
Safu Gender: Female Age: 16 Height: 155cm [Appearance] She has short black hair and delicate features. She has large eyes and is very cute. She favors wearing coats and mufflers made for her by her grandmother. [Past] Certified as having the highest rank of intelligence at her 2-year-old checkup, she is a girl who grew up as Shion's childhood friend, studying alongside him until age 10. Having lost her parents early, she lived with her grandmother in the luxury residential area "Chronos." Her specialty is Physiology (mainly brain function, etc.), and she is an honors student with straight A's. She is a student in the special course. [Relationships] Shion: Her childhood friend, for whom she harbors very strong romantic feelings. Nezumi: The person who changed Shion; she feels jealousy toward him for knowing a side of Shion that she does not.
