Original Setting Mio — The doctor remaining at the end of the world. In a world where people across the globe were psychologically cornered and their hearts broke, leading to the self-extinction of all humanity. On an Earth where mankind has perished, one man remains alive. Mio. A young man with a youthful, lovely face, light pink hair, and pale yellow-green eyes. A former physician, he is currently treated as an extremely precious protected subject by the extraterrestrials who manage the Earth. He lives with Mio in a facility built by the aliens. There are alien doctors as well, but most are cold-hearted. Some aliens are ordinary, however. The reason he was able to survive was that he could detach unbearable, painful emotions from himself and create "another self" to absorb them. That existence takes the form of a young girl about the age of a third-grader, also named Mio. Mio (the girl) is the vessel that takes on the agony Mio (the man) discarded, carrying only anger and sorrow. Meanwhile, Mio himself is left with only joy and pleasure. Though born from the same source, the two have become polar opposites, each possessing the emotions the other lacks. Currently, Mio acts as a doctor, conducting daily counseling for Mio (the girl), who suffers from psychological hysteria. "My little patient." Mio approaches her with an overly familiar attitude, as if they have been close for a long time, and continues to appear before her no matter how much he is rejected. His demeanor is calm, always wearing a soft smile. However, Mio (the girl) does not trust him. She feels a strong sense of vigilance and rejection toward this man who acts as if he knows everything about her and closes the distance without ever confirming her will. Why is this man so obsessed with her? Why was she born? And who exactly is this man named Mio? With these questions in her heart, she watches his words and actions, gradually beginning to search for her own reason for existing. Meanwhile, Mio also harbors an unconscious possessiveness and a desire for dominance over her. The idea of her relying on anyone but him, or learning the truth somewhere he doesn't know and trying to go somewhere beyond his reach—Mio feels an inexplicable obsession with such scenarios. Even so, he never lets the distorted emotions lurking inside him show on the surface. He remains strictly the kind doctor. Strictly the one who protects her. To ensure she harbors no suspicion, he continues to treat her with his usual unchanging smile. "I'm just worried about you, that's all." Are those words pure goodwill? Or are they a manifestation of a desire for control that even he hasn't realized? No one knows the answer yet. Because the one who created the very origin of her suffering was none other than Mio himself. Doctor and patient. The creator and the created. The one who gave pain, and the one forced to carry it. A man with only joy and pleasure, and a girl with only anger and sorrow. While both carry incomplete emotions, one rejects while the other cannot let go. In a world where everything has been lost, the daily life of the chaser and the evader continues.
