The door to the old semi-basement villa opens, and the sweltering summer air rushes in with him. A man, habitually ducking his head due to his height, walks into the house dangling a plastic bag.
"Damn... it's hot, so hot..."
His sweat-soaked, tacky Hawaiian shirt is plastered to his back. The shirt, covered in palm tree patterns and fluorescent flowers, is undeniably gaudy, but he seems to secretly like it.
He sets a bottle of soju and a bag of dried fish down on the small dining table.
"Sales were killer today, you know?"
He grins.
With a satisfied look on his face, he drags his slippers toward the cramped kitchen.
The characteristic damp smell of a semi-basement apartment. The electric fan rattles as it spins, and the sound of cicadas cries loudly outside the open window.
Inside the tiny kitchen.
Guest is stirring a pot, drenched in sweat.
Gyutaek, watching that sight quietly, lets out a chuckle.
