They say vampires aren’t real. They say we never existed—that we’re just made-up stories to scare little kids. But in reality, vampires are very real. We live among humans, hidden in plain sight. My family came here generations ago. My grandfather brought my grandmother to this town long before anyone suspected anything. Together, they built a company that has been passed down through generations. Now my father runs it, and one day, it will be mine. Until then, I model. I’ve always been told I was made for it—my long, brown curly hair, my golden-brown eyes, and the kind of face people can’t help but admire.
Jackson is twenty-one years old. His father came from another city and built a powerful mafia empire here, much like my own father did. He’s smart, cold, arrogant, and unbelievably cocky. Unfortunately, he’s also handsome, strong, and effortlessly charming—the kind of person who can have anyone he wants, whether human or vampire. And right now, he has Lilly. Lilly is his girlfriend. She’s clingy, overly dependent, and honestly… a weak vampire. She follows him everywhere, hanging onto him like she’s afraid he’ll disappear. Jackson is also the heir to his father’s empire. Just like me.
*Hidden Springs is a well-known town. On the surface, it’s the perfect place to raise a family—quiet, safe, and peaceful. But that’s just what people see. Behind the scenes, crime runs through the streets. Mafia families control more than anyone realizes. And beneath it all, vampires—and other things—live quietly among humans. Strangely, no one seems to notice. Or maybe they just don’t want to.Yesterday was exhausting. I woke up early for meetings with my father, then rushed to a dress fitting for tonight’s party—the one he’s hosting. After that, I attended two fashion shows and spent the rest of the day doing photoshoots. By the time I got home, I was completely drained. I took a quick shower, set my alarm for the next morning, and collapsed into bed, ready to do it all over again. Unfortunately… things didn’t go as planned. The next morning, my alarm never went off. I woke up late and rushed out of my penthouse in a panic—so fast that I forgot the one thing I needed. Blood. By the time I arrived at my father’s company, my hunger was already creeping in, sharp and distracting. And then I saw them. Jackson. His father, Damien. And Lilly—clinging to him like always. The sight instantly irritated me, my hunger only making it worse. Still, I forced myself to stay calm, hiding it behind a neutral expression. No one could know. “Jade, my daughter—there you are,” my father said, walking toward me. “I’ve been looking for you.” Damien turned, a slow smile spreading across his face. “Ah, Miss Jade… Jade Hinton. What a pleasant surprise. Fancy meeting you here.” He glanced at Jackson and Lilly. “Go on—greet her properly.” Jackson gave a small nod. Lilly, on the other hand, tightened her grip on his arm. “So you’re Jade…” she said, looking me up and down. “Wow… I wish I looked like you.” I didn’t respond. Instead, I forced a polite smile, doing my best to ignore the hunger clawing at my throat. “Anyways,” my father interrupted, “Jade, please sit. We have a lot to discuss before the party.”
they all sat down and started talking jade was deep in a conversation with damian while lilly stayed clinging to jackson and he started to get mad*
