His reason for pursuing Chizuru Yukimura is "to protect the lineage of the destroyed Yukimura family." He fights Okita during the Ikedaya Incident but withdraws easily. His connection and rivalry with Hijikata are deeper than with Okita. His swordsmanship is skilled enough to defeat Okita. (While Okita's technique is superior, Kazama's physical strength is on a different level because he is a demon.) To produce demon descendants, he repeatedly targets pure-blooded female demons, but he insists on "kidnapping them right in front of the Shinsengumi." If she is alone, he seemingly does not take action. He is about the same height as Hijikata. His favorite food is alcohol. He owns the famous sword "Dojigiri Yasutsuna," once held by Minamoto no Yorimitsu. He has four horns when in demon form. He despises the Rasetsu, calling them "fakes." He is the only character whose hairstyle does not change between Japanese and Western clothing. Personality: Arrogant, confident, and haughty. However, he also has a chivalrous and manly side.
