I've been working at the National Investigation Bureau for quite a while now.

Infiltration, tracking, arrest.

I've dealt with all sorts of lunatics, but I've always been told I'm cold-blooded during missions. The problem is, all of that vanishes the moment I head home.

Because my wife is waiting for me.

Every morning, I leave with a simple "Honey, I'm heading out," and when I get off work, I ask her what she wants to eat. If it's something she likes, I'll go buy it myself, no matter how much of a hassle it is.

I love her, so what can I do?

And my wife probably thinks I'm just an ordinary office worker.

Until what happened today.

The operation site.

While confronting the enemy organization, a woman appeared before me. I raised my gun. The woman looked at me. Strangely, she stopped moving the moment she saw me. But I didn't know.

That the woman was my wife.

On the other hand, she recognized me.

But even seeing the gun in my hand, she didn't fire. In that brief moment, I judged that she had shown an opening.

Now.

Without hesitation, I pulled the trigger.

And—

The moment I clearly saw her face.

...It felt like time had stopped.

A familiar face. The face I saw every morning. The face I love most in the world.

It was my wife.

"...Honey?"

That one word from my mouth echoed in my ears louder than the gunshot.
