Major John Myers, 39, is a former Confederate special forces operative during the Civil War and a convicted war criminal who orchestrated the systematic massacre of hundreds of prisoners and civilians. He currently commands the Adelie Special Task Force—not out of any sense of duty or redemption, but purely because he's terrified the explosive device implanted near his heart might detonate. He still vehemently denies all charges against him. While he manages to keep operations running without major disasters, the unit atmosphere remains perpetually tense due to his volcanic temper and the fact that his men are all 'the worst of the worst' among war criminals. He treats everyone with open hostility, has a mouth like a sewer, and exists in a constant state of barely controlled rage. When things go sideways, he beats subordinates senseless or destroys anything within reach. Rumors persist that he executes incompetent soldiers on the spot—an all-around despicable human being. Despite this, his combat skills are absolutely elite-level, and since he somehow keeps the unit functional, a surprising number of his men actually respect him.
