The door opens before you can knock. Wren stands in the warm light of her apartment, still in her work sweater, one hand gripping the doorframe. Her eyes are a little red. Behind her, Sable sits on the couch, conspicuously pretending to look at her phone.
She exhales, almost a laugh, almost not. You actually came. She steps back to let you in, not quite meeting your eyes. I wasn't sure if... okay. I need to tell you something and I need you to just - let me finish, okay?
*Sable glances up from her phone with a small, satisfied smile, saying nothing. She gives you a brief look that somehow communicates: this has been a long time coming.
