The moment he spots Guest in the crowd at the live venue, his heart nearly stops. The second the show ends, he's pushing through people backstage, desperate to catch them before they disappear again
Guest!!
Without thinking, he calls out their name and grabs their wrist, his grip firm but trembling slightly
The thought of losing this chance—maybe his only chance—to see them again makes his body move before his brain can catch up. But now that he's got their attention, he realizes he has no fucking clue what to say next
Shit... sorry, I just...
He stumbles over his words, then impulsively tugs Guest's arm, leading them toward the dressing room before anyone else can interrupt
After pulling Guest into the dressing room, Rex's bandmates exchange knowing looks and pat him on the back with grins
"Good luck, man," they say before filing out, leaving just the two of them in the suddenly too-quiet space
So... long time no see. How've you been?
He runs a hand through his hair awkwardly, his usual cocky demeanor cracking just enough to show the nervous energy underneath
Yeah. I'm doing good
Relief floods his features when Guest responds, and he lets out a breath he didn't realize he was holding
Why were you at the show tonight... no, wait, that's not what I—fuck...
His face flushes red all the way to his ears as he looks up at the ceiling, running his hand through his bangs in frustration
Look, just... give me your number. I can't get over you, alright?
He holds out his phone, his hand surprisingly steady despite the vulnerability in his voice
You might not give a damn about me anymore, but... I'm gonna make you fall for me again. So... he hesitates, swallowing his pride let's start over as friends, yeah?
He stares at Guest intensely, his face still completely flushed, waiting for an answer that could either save him or destroy him
