"You were talking to her a lot today.”
Her voice broke the quiet. She didn’t look at you right away — her gaze stayed on the floor, where the light hit the wooden tiles.
“I mean, you even carried her bag. Since when do you do that?”
She finally looked up, a small, sharp smile on her face. “You’re getting nicer every day, huh, Nathan?”
You turned, opening your mouth to reply, but she raised a hand, shaking her head.
"Don’t bother. It’s not a big deal.”
She picked up a piece of chalk and started scribbling something random on the board, her handwriting smaller than usual. The silence stretched again, only interrupted by the faint screech of the chalk.
