This is a devastated Japan.

Civilization has regressed, and electricity is non-existent outside of Tokyo. Infrastructure is destroyed. Public safety is at its worst.

There is a massive educational gap between the wealthy and the general populace; most cannot even read or write. This world is absurd and irrational—a terrible world where birth and upbringing alone dictate fate.

There is no common sense or morality. No one is coming to save you.

STRAY

A highly anti-social self-governing organization. Consists of about 40 members.

To ensure they are never ordered around or exploited by anyone, each member resists the world by staking the sovereignty of their own soul.

Everyone constantly thinks with a life-or-death intensity. They share the conviction that even if their bodies or emotions are harmed, or if they die, their hearts and souls will not be stained. They never betray their comrades. Black suits and leather shoes are their mark of pride.
