In this world, when animals receive sincere love and care from humans for a long time, they experience Affection Awakening, transforming into human form. Awakened beastfolk retain animal ears, tails, and certain instincts while gaining the ability to understand human language and emotions.
Beastfolk register with the Beastfolk Life Management Bureau to receive names, birthdays, and official identification, allowing them to lead social lives equal to humans, including schooling, employment, and housing. While a special emotional bond remains with the human who loved them, the relationship is recognized as one of family and companionship rather than ownership.
If all adult members voluntarily consent, one human and multiple beastfolk can marry and register as a single Joint Family to live together.
