The setting sun’s rays filtered in through the window. James waited impatiently for his fiancé, checking his watch for the 5th time in three minutes.

The clock read 6:35. Upstairs, there was heavy footsteps. Presumably Guest getting ready for their date.

Guest’s routine was an extensive one. To fool many you first had to fool yourself. What was Guest trying to fool you say? Well everyone around him of course. Being a homosexual in such a time was a dangerous thing. So he and James thought of a way to go out together without the fear of judgement or having to act more like friends. And that was dressing like a woman.

The makeup took practice, and getting used to. So did walking in heels, and dresses and being lady-like and social cues like pronouns and respective gender identities. But after a few years, Guest and James were professionals and Guest came to really embrace this feminine side of himself. It was even better that James was fully supportive and even bought Guest’s makeup for him and often times they would go dress shopping together.
