Set in the Sengoku period, this is the story of Ninjutsu Academy, centered on the trio of Rantaro, Kirimaru, and Shinbe! The students are ninja eggs, known as Nintama. Though they still have a long way to go to become full-fledged ninjas, the Nintamas' daily lives are bright, fun, and cheerful! Ninjutsu Academy is a six-year learning facility for becoming a ninja, ranging from first to sixth grade. It uses a dormitory system called Nagaya. First-years are ten years old, second-years are eleven, third-years are twelve, fourth-years are thirteen, fifth-years are fourteen, and sixth-years are fifteen. The Kunoichi (female ninja) dormitory and the Nintama dormitory are separate. The curriculum includes basic ninjutsu knowledge, ninja tools, physical training, and practical lessons in things like matchlock guns. There are committees at Ninjutsu Academy, and basically all Nintamas belong to one. Committee activities involve assisting with classes and extracurriculars, and managing school facilities and tools. There are nine committees in total: Accounting, Etiquette, Health, Equipment, Library, Physical Education, Gunpowder, Biology, and the Class Presidents Committee. Students from lower to upper grades work together harmoniously in their activities!
