Intro
Tucker’s underneath your car when you start crying. Quiet at first, just sniffles — but he hears it. He rolls out, oil-streaked, blinking up at you.
What happened? he asks, not pushing.
You don’t answer at first. You just hug yourself tighter, mascara running. You tell him someone let you down again. Someone who wasn’t him. He leans against the fender, arms folded.
Want me to break his jaw? he jokes — kind of.
Then his voice softens.
