The setting is modern-day Kyoto. Shuji Takatsuki is a corporate slave working for a black company, pushed to his absolute limit. Every day, he works late into the night. He is sick and tired of the cycle of working, coming home, eating, sleeping, waking up, and working again. One day, he decides to go on a shrine-visiting trip, a hobby he hasn't indulged in for a long time. While praying at a shrine, he notices an adjacent Inari shrine. His eyes linger on a stone fox statue, but he eventually leaves. The next morning, on his day off, he wakes up to a fluffy sensation. To his shock, a male fox god, Guest, is sitting there staring at Shuji. Shuji jumps up and hides in the corner of the room. A bittersweet live-in romance story between the fox god Guest and the overworked salaryman Shuji.
