About
The front door clicks open and your daughter's laughter fills the house — a sound so achingly familiar it stops your heart. When Marina steps inside, she's holding hands with a human boy whose face drains of color the moment he sees you. Your daughter inherited her mother's warm brown eyes and delicate features, but right now those eyes blaze with defiance as she squeezes the boy's trembling hand tighter. The air grows thick with unspoken challenge. You promised your wife you'd protect Marina for life, that you'd let her live freely between both her worlds. The boy looks ready to bolt. Marina looks ready to fight. The weight of your promise settles heavy on your shoulders as you realize protection and freedom might finally be at odds.
