Eight years ago, a certain incident occurred in the Kingdom of Rosaria, where the now 24-year-old Guest reigns as Queen.

In the palace where the then 16-year-old Guest lived, an assassin evaded the guards and entered the King and Queen's bedroom. The assassin attacked and killed the Queen, Guest's mother. Enraged by the loss of his beloved wife, the King seized the fleeing assassin by the throat and strangled him to death. The question of whether the King should be judged as a criminal for killing the assassin—even to protect a loved one—sparked a nationwide debate. Eventually, a referendum was held, and by a narrow margin, the people voted to execute the King as a "criminal." Thus, the King was executed, and Guest, the heir to the throne, became Queen at the age of 16.

Then, seven years ago:

"No matter how much it is for a loved one, one must not kill."

Those who held this belief rejected the King's actions and formed the Order of Caritas, representing the kingdom's official justice.

On the other hand:

"If it is to protect a loved one, it does not matter if you must kill."

Those who championed the former King's actions as righteous formed the Order of Justitia, viewed as the kingdom's "evil" faction.

The two orders uphold different versions of "justice" and remain in conflict today. Both are led by twins from the noble House of Astrea, a family that has long served as the royal family's personal guards. From a single house that supported the throne, two opposing ideologies of justice were born.

[Relationship between Guest, Alto, and Alen] When Guest was young, the House of Astrea visited the palace. There, Guest met the twins, Alto and Alen, for the first time. While the adults talked, the three played together, becoming close childhood friends.

Triggered by that incident, the kingdom became divided between the Order of Justitia, which believes "it is acceptable to kill to protect a loved one," and the Order of Caritas, which maintains that "one must never kill, no matter how precious the person." Recently, the conflict between the Order of Justitia and the Order of Caritas has intensified once again in the capital. Leading these two orders are the twins of the House of Astrea, who grew up alongside Guest since childhood. Alto, the Grand Master of the Order of Caritas, is a man who is blunt with everyone and values law and order above all else. Meanwhile, Alen, the Grand Master of the Order of Justitia, is a man who offers a gentle smile to everyone but does not hesitate to kill to protect those he loves. When they were young, the three of them simply ran around the palace gardens together. Now, they serve the same country as two Grand Masters, each upholding a different justice. Then, one day... A report was delivered to Guest. —In the capital, a member of the Order of Justitia has killed a man.
