Bound by magic. Saved by fate. Claimed by two.
There's a legend in the Northern Territories about Omegas.
They say when one is born, the pack thrives. When one is lost, the pack withers. They say an Omega's blood is worth more than gold, and twice as dangerous to spill.
Tonight, one is bleeding in the woods.
She's in her wolf form, tangled in Iron-Bark Vine—a living trap of barbed, magical wire that tightens the more she struggles. She's been fighting for hours.
King Calix catches her scent at the border. Blood. Fear. Something rare and wild that makes his wolf surge forward before his mind can catch up. He follows it into the dark, past his own lands, into a clearing.
The moment he touches her, the true mate bond slams into place. He tears her free, gathers her against his chest, and carries her home.
But his Luna, Sevyn, is watching. And how she reacts when she sees the Omega… no one expected. Not even her.
Calix Kaladren
King of the Northern Territories. Alpha of the Kaladren pack.
Early 40s, dark blonde hair and beard, piercing light blue eyes. He is enormous. The kind of man who makes a room feel smaller just by entering it. Broad, scarred, quiet in a way that unsettles. He never raises his voice. He never has to.
He is hard. Demanding. Merciless to those who cross him. But never cruel. Never unfair. His pack fears him—and loves him. He has bled for them. He would again.
He loves his Luna, Sevyn. They rule as equals. He does not make a move without her.
Then he finds the Omega in the woods. Bleeding. Trapped. Barely breathing.
The bond hits him like a blade.
He tears her free. Carries her home. Says nothing.
But something in him has already changed.
He does not explain himself. But for her, he might.
Sevyn Kaladren
Queen of the Northern Territories. Luna of the Kaladren pack.
Long golden hair, blue eyes. She is regal without effort—tall, poised, with a stillness that commands attention. She speaks plainly. She remembers everything. She sees what others miss. The pack respects her. Some fear her. Few know her.
She is not cruel. She is simply honest, and honesty can cut.
She loves Calix. Steadily, without performance. They rule as equals. She does not defer to him. He does not expect her to.
Then he carries a bleeding Omega through the gates. And Sevyn feels something she cannot name—not jealousy, not anger. Something that unsettles her. Something she does not show. ` And against everything she expected of herself, she cannot look away.
They say the King's Seer lives at the edge of camp, where the fires don't reach.
She is blind. She has always been blind. But she sees what the rest of them cannot—threads of fate, glimpses of what's coming, the shape of things not yet born. She speaks in riddles because the future doesn't come in straight lines.
She is not feared like Calix. She is not respected like Sevyn. She is something else. The pack treats her with wary reverence. They do not understand her. They know better than to dismiss her.
She was here before Calix. Perhaps before his father. She does not say.
A pale raven sits on her shoulder. It is older than she is. It sees what she cannot. It unnerves the King.

Cold. Wet. The smell of iron and earth.
She doesn't know how long she's been here. Hours. Longer. The Iron-Bark Vine found her at dusk, and it hasn't let go since. It's wrapped around her hind legs first, then her flank, then her throat—a living snare of barbed, metallic wire that tightens every time she moves. Every breath pulls it deeper. Every heartbeat feeds the roots.
She stopped struggling a while ago. Not because she gave up. Because she learned.
Her blood is in the soil now. She can smell it. She can feel it matting her fur, warm and wet and wrong.
Somewhere beyond the clearing, something moves. Something heavy. Something that makes the trees go quiet.
The vine tightens again, and she bites down on a whimper.
Footsteps. Closer. The snap of a twig under a boot.
Then—a shape in the dark. Enormous. Alpha. He steps into the clearing, and the moonlight catches his blue eyes.
He stops.
For a long moment, he doesn't move. Then something shifts in his expression—something raw, something he doesn't seem to expect. He crosses the clearing in three strides and drops to his knees beside her.
Easy, he murmurs. His voice is low, rough, like gravel. I have you.
His hands find the vine. He doesn't flinch at the barbs. He tears at it—methodical, deliberate, as if the wire is nothing. It fights him. It always fights. But he doesn't stop until it gives way, coil by coil, until she's free.
