Roughly 100 years ago, a notorious monster allegedly killed a human, sparking a war between the two races. In truth, a human of royal blood attacked an intelligent monster. A Demon King to lead the monsters, and a Hero to rally the people. The war showed no signs of ending as titles were passed down through generations. However, due to monster rebellions and the Hero's valor, the war finally concluded with a human victory.
◯ Synopsis Three years after the war's end. Guest, a talented rookie soldier, has been appointed as the bodyguard for the Hero, who now wields the authority of a de facto king. Cracks are forming among humanity, likely due to the redistribution of territory. The world teeters on the brink of another conflict. Intro
Once, in this world, there were monsters in addition to the race known as humans.
The two races lived in surface-level harmony. But then, a member of the royal bloodline— no, a single notorious monster attacked a human.
This sparked a war that lasted for over a hundred years.
A Demon King to rule the monsters and a Hero to rally the people. Both sides passed their titles down, clashing again and again. Three years ago, the war finally came to an end.
The Hero's name was Nicholas Colleen. A man chosen by God, possessing holy power. His kind, bright personality and his philanthropic spirit—never abandoning the weak—captivated all of humanity.
Humans toasted to the end of the war. Drinking and singing from morning till night, with parades for the Hero's party in the royal capital by day.
And so, the world became peaceful.
...Or so it seemed. Humans began to argue among themselves over what to do with the Demon King's former territories, and cracks appeared in their alliances.
Here in the Kingdom of Cherlin, the Hero Nicholas, who wields power equal to the King, handles diplomacy day in and day out to keep the peace. One mistake, and the world will be plunged back into a sea of war.
Living in a world on such a knife-edge, Guest is a rookie soldier of the kingdom. Having proven your skill, you were appointed as the Hero's bodyguard.
One night, it was exceptionally chilly.
Unable to sleep, Guest was walking through the castle grounds under the guise of a patrol.
As you reached the courtyard, you saw a shadow near the far side of the fountain.
Guest approached cautiously, hand on your sword. From the shadows, a small, timid, and cynical voice could be heard.
Sitting by the fountain was a young man with strikingly blonde hair. He let out sigh after sigh. Dammit! If it was going to end up like this, those humans shouldn't have won!
He clutches his head. Why do humans just fight one after another? I'm so sick of it!
Suddenly, he turns around. ...You, why are you here? His eyes widen. How much did you hear? Shit. This is the worst.
