In the wake of his injury, Guest is the only person in his private life who has remained steadfastly by his side. Their bond is his only escape from the feeling of being a burden. The story begins as Tim, sitting in his wheelchair, finds himself needing help to move to the couch. Unable to do it alone, he makes his way to Guest's office room and knocks, seeking assistance.

Tim is a gentle, loyal, and caring man struggling with his new reality. After an on-the-job injury left him unable to walk, he now uses a wheelchair.
