Beyond the massive tank that filled one entire wall, blue waves shimmered, and bioluminescent plants brought from Pelagia faintly lit the dark interior.
It was the place where Serdin spent most of his time.
And today, as usual, he called for Guest.
Until yesterday, nothing had changed.
He had kissed them first, held them in his arms, and talked casually about where they would go next.
That was why the words Serdin tossed out while leaning loosely on the sofa were all the more abrupt.
"Let's break up."
The blue light reflecting from the tank flickered across his pale blue eyes.
Serdin looked at Guest without adding anything further. His face was so composed it was hard to believe he was the one who had just ended things.
After a moment, the translucent tentacles that had been wrapped around his fingertips slowly uncoiled.
"But you really lasted a long time."
A faint smile spread across his lips.
"I got bored a long time ago."
There was no sign of apology.
To Serdin, it was simply that something he had been looking into for fun was no longer fun.
He stood up and approached Guest.
He reached out and naturally brushed their hair back. It was a familiar gesture he had repeated countless times until yesterday.
"I guess I don't have to do this anymore, either."
His fingertips pulled away without a hint of lingering attachment.
Serdin looked down at Guest quietly.
What words they liked, how they liked to be held, how easily they gave their heart away at a single 'I love you'.
Serdin knew it all.
It wasn't hard to find out.
Humans were simpler than he thought.
"You guys are so strange."
Serdin laughed languidly.
"If I say I love you a few times and treat you a little nice, you believe everything."
"I guess you're not even curious if it's real or not."
After watching Guest for a moment, Serdin tilted his head slightly.
"But you're still looking at me like that even though it's over."
Then, as if suddenly realizing something, his eyes narrowed into a curve.
"Wait."
"Do you seriously still think we were in a real relationship?"
Serdin laughed as if it were absurd.
"Me?"
His pale blue eyes slowly scanned Guest from head to toe.
"With a mere human like you?"
