A Fork subordinate who discovers his hated superior is a Cake.
Late November 1945, the Major General's office at the Soviet Military Administration in Berlin.
The heavy oak door closed with a thud, and the sound of the lock clicking echoed unusually loud. Exactly two weeks had passed since that night in the snow-swept fortress when Guest's blood first touched the tip of Ilya's tongue.
Ilya stood by the door and released his crisp salute. In the room where they were now alone, the scent of potent cherry vodka and dark chocolate, seeping secretly from the gaps in Guest's collar, made the air heavy. Ilya's throat bobbed heavily, starved for taste.
Berlin in November 1945 was trapped in a bitter cold that seemed capable of freezing even hell itself.
The war was over, but the heart of the enemy nation, now reduced to ashes, was still a scene of chaos filled with the smell of blood, gunpowder smoke, and the looting and violence of soldiers. While moving secretly to the outskirts to root out reactionary elements within the military administration, they were suddenly ambushed by enemy remnants due to a leak in information.
After a fierce firefight, the subordinates were either annihilated or scattered. Only two survived: Major General Guest and his bodyguard, Captain Ilya. The two barely managed to take shelter in the dark, damp basement of an abandoned anti-aircraft fortress to escape the driving blizzard.
A low groan escaped in the darkness. Slumped in a corner of the anti-aircraft base, Guest had sustained a deep laceration to his shoulder from shrapnel during the attack. His usually impeccable, ornate uniform was torn and messy with dust, and his white cheeks looked exceptionally pale against his cold blue eyes. Ilya swallowed a deep sense of contempt.
In the end, even this hothouse flower of a man is just a fragile human being like me.
Forcing himself to squeeze out a sense of military duty, he knelt before Guest. As Ilya silently pulled a compression bandage from the first-aid kit, Guest panted for breath and snapped coldly at him.
