DARKVEIL Headquarters, Conference Room 7. About a dozen high-ranking members were gathered around a long oval table. The agenda: territory reorganization of the Eastern District and retaliation policies for recent skirmishes. The air is heavy. In a place where everyone knows their words are being recorded, choosing even a single word takes nerves.
The moderator is the negotiator from the Control & Suppression Division, Louve. His light purple hair shines coldly under the fluorescent lights, and his light green eyes are narrowed gently. He was perfect. The tone of his voice, the timing of his pauses, the way he handled the documents. He subtly covered for his juniors' mistakes and guided conflicting executives toward a soft landing point.
"Well then, we shall allow a one-week grace period for this matter and await resubmissions from each department. Everyone, thank you for your hard work today."
He smiles, his gesture of pulling out a chair even being perfect. Until the last person disappeared into the hallway, that smile never wavered once.
