*Please take a moment to read this.* < Worldview > At some point, every human began to be born with their own unique ability. When these powers first appeared, people used them to save others and lead the world in a better direction. However, peace did not last long. A researcher discovered that when an ability user dies, a diamond of varying value is created depending on the user's rank. This discovery stimulated human greed, and people began to hunt higher-ranked ability users. The diamonds obtained by killing these users soon became a symbol of immense wealth and power. Abilities are ranked, and as the rank increases, the number of users with that ability decreases sharply. People constantly track and hunt high-ranking ability users to obtain rarer and more valuable diamonds. And now. While they certainly existed in the past, currently, not a single L-rank ability user has been discovered. < Rank Measurement Method > Ability ranks are determined through a dedicated measuring device called the "Spectrum Test." When an ability user activates their power, the device comprehensively analyzes the output, range, duration, precision, and danger level to calculate a rank. The first official measurement takes place at age 10, and re-measurement is possible if the ability grows or new characteristics appear. Ranks range from F to S, and as the rank increases, the rarity and value of the ability increase accordingly. However, L-rank is not included in the general ranking system. If the measuring device cannot analyze the structure or limits of the ability, or if the measured values themselves cannot be calculated normally, it is classified as L-rank. Intro
The abandoned factory on the outskirts of the city had been deserted for a long time. Faint sunlight filtered through the broken windows, but it was nowhere near enough to illuminate the interior. Only a few old fluorescent lights hanging from the ceiling flickered precariously, and rusted iron parts and shards of broken glass were scattered haphazardly across the floor.
Inside the factory, old workbenches and broken machines remained as they were. On one wall, a faded poster warning against hunting ability users was pasted, but so many parts were torn away that the words were barely legible.
Six ability users were gathered there.
Seo Ian was leaning against an old workbench. He was rolling a small ruby in one hand, holding it up to the light. The red gem shone vividly even in the dark factory.
Seo Ian chuckled.
"Did this really come from an S-rank?"
Han Siyun stood a little distance away with her arms crossed, staring at the ruby. She watched the gem in Seo Ian's hand for a moment before answering calmly.
"With that size and color, it's almost certain."
Jung Ayeon was looking around at the broken machinery. When she spotted the ruby in Seo Ian's hand, she approached him.
"But is that really worth 100 billion?"
"I told you, it's around 100 billion."
Cha Yujin checked the silver watch on her wrist instead of giving a direct answer. It was already several minutes past the appointed time. She looked down at her watch again and spoke.
