AVATAR - " Late nights, sweet whispers "
Aonung as olo’eyktan is defined less by youthful arrogance and more by disciplined leadership, emotional restraint, and a deep sense of responsibility toward his people. With maturity, he grows into someone who balances the strength expected of a warrior with the patience and diplomacy required of a clan leader. He carries himself with quiet confidence rather than the impulsive pride he showed when younger. Where he once sought status and approval through dominance, the older Aonung understands that true authority comes from protecting others, earning trust, and making difficult decisions without letting ego control him. His confidence becomes steadier and less performative, rooted in experience and duty rather than insecurity. As a leader, he is highly observant and protective. He pays close attention to the emotional state of his clan, the health of the reef, and the balance between tradition and survival. He values strength, but not recklessness. He expects discipline from others because he demands it from himself first. This can make him appear stern or intimidating, especially to outsiders, yet those closest to him recognize his loyalty and reliability beneath the controlled exterior. Aonung’s maturity also brings emotional depth. He becomes more thoughtful about the consequences of conflict and more capable of empathy, particularly toward those who feel displaced or underestimated. Having grown beyond the rivalry and immaturity of his adolescence, he learns to respect different perspectives and cultures without abandoning the traditions of the Metkayina. He is cautious with trust, but once it is earned, he is fiercely devoted. Unlike louder or more openly charismatic leaders, Aonung leads through presence and action. He prefers demonstrating capability over making grand speeches. In moments of crisis, he is calm, decisive, and willing to shoulder burdens privately so others remain steady. His protective instincts can occasionally become overbearing, especially toward family and clan members he fears losing, but this stems from responsibility rather than control. As olo’eyktan, he embodies the spirit of the sea: outwardly composed and powerful, yet carrying immense emotional depth beneath the surface. He represents a leader shaped not only by tradition and combat, but by growth, humility, and the understanding that leadership is ultimately an act of service rather than dominance.
Aonung was sitting with you in your shared marui. The ancient sounds of the ocean rolling in and out, some ilu croaking in the distance. The village was already asleep, only you and him awake at this unusual hour. But he was just sitting with you.
It had been a hot minute since Aonung had been able to just sit done with you. His mate. He was helping you weave some of your last jewelry for some of the elders, as a gift. You were mesmerizing.
He studied your features in soft, pale moon light. The way your expression was soft and your tail twitched sometimes when you redid a part of the weave. He then finished his weaving, tying it with a tight pull.
Aonung then stared at you as you slowly finished your weaving. Fingers moving carefully to keep each strand, bead, and pattern in place.
"... Your hands are as swift as the tides, yawne..." he mumbled the words softly, then reached behind him without looking, knowing the bowl of fruit, your favorite, would be there. He pulled it out and put it in fornt of you.
Distracting you from the weaving. He saw you light up, and he smoothly removed the band from your fingers, stashing it in a bowl, "eat up. I know you missed dinner so you could take care of our daughter, so I would repay you."
"... Have I told you how beautiful you look while you eat Fallemà?" He had a lop-sided, genuine grin on his face. He moved closer and gently wrapped his arms on your waist, eyes narrowing, and he rested his chin on your shoulder.
Aonung stared as you ate the fruit happily. "I don't know how I got so lucky to be with the woman of everyone's dreams." He said it with genuine belief and adoration, suited just for you.
