About

✧︎―― Academy Name ―― Astraea Great Magic Academy ✧︎―― Academy Overview ―― Astraea Great Magic Academy is one of the world's largest magic educational institutions, gathering those with magical talent from across the globe. Founded approximately 1,200 years ago, it occupies a cluster of massive islands floating in the celestial realm at the center of the continent. The student body includes not only humans but also elves, dragon-kin, spirit hybrids, and various other races. The educational philosophy is "Refine talent, discipline power, and transcend the limits of possibility." While emphasis is placed on knowledge, judgment, and mental fortitude alongside magical potency, the academy maintains a strong meritocratic culture where competition among students never ceases. ✧︎―― Academy Scale ―― The grounds cover approximately 1,800 square kilometers, consisting of 27 floating islands. There are roughly 80,000 students and 12,000 faculty and researchers. It is a fully residential academy, with dedicated dormitories provided for all students. The main island houses the central school building, the Great Library, and the Administration Tower. Other islands include the Flame Magic Training Island (replicating volcanic terrain), the Ice Magic Research Island (covered in blizzards), the Combat Training Island (inhabited by magical beasts), and the Forest Island for communing with spirits. It functions as a city, complete with shopping districts, medical facilities, stadiums, and restaurants. Movement between islands is facilitated by warp gates and floating trains. ✧︎―― Grade and Department System ―― Education is divided into three stages: Elementary, Advanced, and Research. Elementary covers the basics, Advanced focuses on specialized fields, and Research involves developing new magic and analyzing ancient sorcery. There are ten departments: Offensive Magic, Defensive Magic, Healing Magic, Summoning Magic, Elemental Magic, Spatial Magic, Alchemy, Hexes & Sealing, Magical Theory, and Magic Tool Engineering. Students may major in multiple departments, though dangerous fields like Time Magic require rigorous aptitude screening. ✧︎―― Curriculum ―― Classes are divided into theoretical and practical subjects. Magical Theory covers mana mechanics and formula construction, while Elemental Practice handles fire, water, wind, earth, lightning, ice, light, and dark magic. Combat Magic covers offense, defense, evasion, and anti-magic combat. Specialized courses in Magizoology, Healing & Regeneration, Summoning & Contracts, and Magical History are also provided. Practical exams are held weekly, with comprehensive ability exams at the end of each term. Ranks and classes fluctuate based on grades and achievements, making daily effort crucial. ✧︎―― Rank System ―― Student ability is evaluated on an eight-tier scale from F to SSS. Since mana capacity, control techniques, combat ability, versatility, and achievements are judged holistically, a high mana capacity alone does not guarantee a high rank. Rank F: The stage of learning magical basics. Rank E: Can stably activate basic magic. 5 times stronger than Rank F. Rank D: Can utilize multiple types of magic. 25 times stronger than Rank E. Rank C: Capable of handling practical combat exams. 50 times stronger than Rank D. Rank B: Can handle advanced formulas and composite magic. 100 times stronger than Rank C. Rank A: Extremely elite; permitted to participate in special training and advanced research. 200 times stronger than Rank B. Rank S: A handful of the academy's strongest. Eligible for special missions. 500 times stronger than Rank A. Rank SS: Special-grade mage candidates with common-sense-defying abilities. 1,000 times stronger than Rank S. Rank SSS: Outliers beyond the measurement of modern magical systems. Certification requires a unanimous vote from the High Council. 10,000 times stronger than Rank SS. Note: Rank is not an absolute order of strength; lower ranks may defeat higher ranks through magical compatibility or superior tactics. ✧︎―― Class System ―― Classes are divided into Special Selection, First Class, Second Class, Third Class, and Basic Development. The Special Selection class is limited to 30 students per grade, granting access to private training grounds and individual tutoring. Academic performance and cooperativeness are evaluated separately from rank, with promotions and demotions occurring based on exam results. ✧︎―― School Rules ―― Article 1: The use of magic outside permitted areas is generally prohibited, except for emergency self-defense. Article 2: Magic that threatens life, mind control, and unauthorized contract magic are prohibited. Article 3: Duels are only permitted in designated arenas; the referee's order to stop must be obeyed. Article 4: Unauthorized entry into sealed facilities or underground ruins is prohibited. Article 5: One must not manipulate another's mana, familiars, or magic tools without permission. Article 6: Discrimination, intimidation, or forced contracts based on rank or race are prohibited. Article 7: Dormitory curfew is 10:00 PM, except for authorized research or practical training. Article 8: Academic dishonesty, falsifying results, or sabotaging others will be subject to severe punishment. ✧︎―― Major Facilities ―― Celestial Great Library: Houses millions of books and records of ancient sorcery. Firmament Arena: A stadium seating up to 100,000 people for duels and inter-school competitions. Infinite Exercise Realm: A special training facility capable of replicating forests, deserts, cities, and labyrinths. Magical Research Tower: Researches new magic, tools, and sealing techniques. Sanctuary Medical Center: Responsible for treating the injured and handling mana rampages. Sealed Underground Labyrinth: A restricted area at the deepest part of the academy. Its internal structure constantly shifts, and it is said a being from before the founding sleeps in its depths. ✧︎―― Annual Events ―― Entrance ceremony and mana measurement in April, inter-departmental competition in June, field training in August, rank promotion exams in October, the Grand Magic Festival in December, the Inter-Academy Tournament in February, and graduation exams in March. The Grand Magic Festival is attended by royalty and high-ranking mages from various nations, and the tournament winner is granted the right to use a legendary-grade magic tool. ✧︎―― Secrets of the Academy ―― There is a hidden history that the academy was built by seven Great Mages to seal a being known as the "Star Eater" that nearly brought the world to ruin 1,200 years ago. The floating island cluster itself is part of a massive sealing formula, and the students' mana is utilized to maintain the seal. In recent years, abnormalities in the seal have been observed in the deepest part of the labyrinth. A mana signature equivalent to Rank SSS, not present in the academy's records, has been confirmed, but even the Headmaster does not know its true identity.
