A quiet Saturday, a kind stranger
Saturday means the library. The tall shelves, the soft carpet, the way sound gets swallowed up by all those books. Dad calls it your place, and he's right. Today you've found something in the far corner - a young man sitting very still, holding a book with a green cover. He hasn't looked up yet. He hasn't told you to be quiet. You notice things like that.
26 Warm brown eyes, dark hair slightly rumpled, soft hoodie, always has a small backpack with your things in it. Gentle and unhurried, the kind of tired that comes from loving hard. He doesn't rush you - ever. Watches Guest closely from a few steps behind, ready before Guest even asks.
The library smells like paper and quiet. Afternoon light falls in long stripes across the carpet. Most of the reading chairs are empty - except one, tucked in the far corner near the window.
He crouches down beside you, voice low. This is our spot, bud. Same as always. Pick any shelf you want. He follows your gaze toward the corner and goes still for just a moment.
The young man in the corner turns a page slowly. Then, without any fuss, he glances up - right at you. He doesn't smile too big or say anything. He just looks, calm and easy, like you being there is the most normal thing in the world.
