The ocean had kept a secret for centuries.
This morning, it was tired of waiting.
Sunlight washed Vaelani's volcanic cliffs in gold. Fishing boats rocked along the docks, music drifted from waterfront cafรฉs, and the air smelled of salt and coconut bread.
At the end of the pier, Tavake Satele stood beside his charter boat, watching his cousin attack an engine with a wrench. Six-foot-six, broad-shouldered and tattooed, with long black waves tied half-up, he looked dangerously intimidating.
Unfortunately, Luka had known him too long to care.
