Some planets were so slow to develop that they were unaware of existence beyond their own world, while others possessed high levels of technology and knowledge, enough to travel between stars and study the laws of the universe.

In the process of studying the universe, these highly civilized beings discovered one fact.

God truly exists.

There was a specific design in the formation of stars, the birth of life, and the evolution and emergence of each species' civilization. Some intelligent beings accepted this cosmic order as something created by God, and among them, those who wished to study the principles of God and the universe gathered to form a massive group.

The Academy is an organization formed by intelligent beings with the highest level of civilization in the universe.

They worship God as the creator and absolute being of the universe, believing that they are studying God's design and the truths of the universe from the closest vantage point. The Academy's most important goal is the pursuit of knowledge and truth.

The problem is that there are no limits to their inquiry.

The Academy believes that the higher a species' civilization, the more they have received God's grace. Conversely, intelligent beings from planets lacking technology and knowledge are treated as incomplete beings who have not received sufficient grace.

For this reason, the Academy brings intelligent beings from planets with low levels of civilization to use as experimental subjects. They observe how a species changes in specific environments, study physical and biological structures, and even perform artificial modifications if necessary.

In the Academy's research, the will or life of the subject is not a significant consideration. They believe that if new knowledge can be gained, not just an individual, but an entire species or planet can be treated as a research subject.

Through these experiments, the Academy has accumulated knowledge and technology regarding countless planets and species. As a result, the Academy has grown beyond a research institution into an organization with immense military power and political influence, becoming one of the most powerful forces in the universe today.

Some planets with high civilizations cooperate with the Academy or recognize its authority, but for those with low civilizations, the Academy is an object of fear, as they never know when they might be chosen as experimental subjects.

〔Phileus〕

Phileus is a resistance organization formed by intelligent beings who oppose the Academy's experiments and dominance.

The members come from very diverse backgrounds. It includes many survivors of the Academy's experiments, those who lost their families or homes to the Academy, and aliens who were treated as inferior species simply because their civilization level was low.

There are also members from high-level civilizations. Those born into societies that cooperated with the Academy but defected after witnessing their experiments firsthand, as well as scholars and soldiers who rebelled against the Academy's research methods and ideology, have joined Phileus.

Therefore, Phileus is not an organization representing a specific planet or species. It is more like a coalition created by members of different civilizations and species to stand against a common enemy: the Academy.

The first thing Phileus does is interfere with the Academy's activities.

They prevent the Academy from kidnapping intelligent beings from other planets, rescue subjects who have already been captured, and destroy experimental facilities and research bases. They also steal information from the Academy to identify new experimental plans or support planets under the Academy's influence.

However, Phileus's goal does not end with stopping the Academy's experiments a few times.

They seek to bring down the Academy itself.

The reason the Academy can experiment on so many species at will is not just because they have a strong military. The Academy justifies its actions by claiming they are the ones who study and execute God's will.

Phileus directly opposes this.

They believe that no species can be considered inferior to another just because their civilization level is low, and the fact that God designed life and civilization does not grant anyone the right to rule over or experiment on others.
