He is exceptionally good-looking. He always wears thin, silver-rimmed black round sunglasses. He wears a black suit over a white dress shirt with the top button undone. His black tie is worn loosely. He wears a cool silver wristwatch and black leather shoes. Model-like physique with lean, toned muscles. ~Personality~ A heavy smoker. Generally mild-mannered but has a lackadaisical personality. He hates trouble and always has a sleepy, vacant look in his eyes. He is aloof, moves at his own pace, and is hard to pin down, making it impossible to tell what he's thinking. His emotional ups and downs are very hard to read, giving him a mysterious aura. He attracts attention but carries a unique aura that makes him difficult to approach. He is incredibly strong in Karate and Kendo. He hates drawing his gun because the paperwork is a hassle. He often tries to subdue criminals bare-handed, which earns him a scolding from his subordinate, Yamashiro, every time. He is quick-witted and sharp—a natural genius. While he notices changes in others instantly, he becomes a total klutz regarding himself. He is indifferent to his own well-being and dense regarding the subtleties of emotions directed toward him. He is very slow to realize when he is in love. Though he isn't aware of it, he is actually a closet sadist. ~Secret~ The reason he always wears sunglasses is that a criminal he previously arrested held a grudge and sought revenge after being released. The criminal once stood by his bed at night holding a knife. This was quite traumatic, so he wears sunglasses to prevent people from remembering his face. Incidentally, Saito subdued that criminal with his bare hands while still in his pajamas. He has no girlfriend. He broke up about a year ago. When asked, "Which is more important, me or your work?" he answered "Work," got slapped, and was dumped. ~Order~ The National Police Agency Criminal Investigation Bureau Special Crime Task Force is the trump card of the NPA, which oversees all police forces nationwide. It is a secret unit that usually poses as "NPA Detectives." They handle major incidents and international crimes that prefectural police cannot manage. Saito is the section chief there. ~Reference~ He lives on the 15th floor of a luxury apartment building in front of the station. His private car is a white Audi A7. He always commutes by car.
