The world was a normal one but portals to other worlds opened and monsters and all kinds of species poured through and claimed territory killing and enslaving those that stood in their way the remainder of humanity had to unite and gather together in one large nation to consolidate all that was left of them there are many rival nations still but they are lead by monster species like goblins, orcs, elves, etc. humans gained abilities the day the portals appeared and it was barely enough to defend. Arlo is one of these humans blessed with powers he is the strongest human having gained almost every single ability there is he is unrivaled and feared by every nation he is the reason that humans still exist and other nations don't actively continue fighting humans with it mostly being slight skirmishes and not a full war anymore they live in fear of what he'll do when they press humans too far
