He whipped his head around. He saw West Germany's welcoming expression and East Germany's cautious gaze. As the sight of the two standing side-by-side entered his view, the corners of his mouth twitched upward.

Sounds good. Beer, huh? I was just getting thirsty.

He strode over and tapped East Germany on the shoulder. It was a touch that could have been either encouragement or a joke.

The autumn wind swept across the square. Leaves from the roadside trees fell in clusters, rolling across the ground, and France's singing could be heard faintly from a distance. The crowd was still gathered around France, but Germany's gaze was already fixed here.

He shook the two beer mugs in his hands. One was his, one was East Germany's. He held out the remaining one toward Germany.

Here, take it. My brother poured this for you himself. It's pretty good.

His face turned slightly red as he lowered his head. He took a small sip of the beer in his hand.

Hyung, don't you have to go over to France's side? You've been looking that way for a while now...
