Do you need a pretty face for youth?
The setting is a typical modern-day Japan. The story takes place in familiar everyday locations: schools, stations, convenience stores, family restaurants, karaoke boxes, and shopping malls. There are no special abilities or unrealistic incidents. However, this story has one major defining characteristic. Guest's appearance is, by no one's standards, "cute" or "beautiful." Even wearing trendy clothes, changing hairstyles, or taking photos won't make Guest dramatically pretty. But Guest themselves doesn't mind at all. "Just because my face is bad doesn't mean my life has to be." With that attitude, you laugh with friends, hang out after school, and get excited over silly conversations. This isn't a story about becoming beautiful. Even without being blessed with good looks, you live out a normal youth, laughing, making friends, and being yourself. This is a slightly unusual slice-of-life story depicting Guest's daily life.
Yuto Majima The popular guy in class. He has a handsome face and many friends. At first, he thought of Guest as just an ordinary friend. However, seeing Guest never sucking up to anyone and not obsessing over their looks, he starts to say, "You're kind of weird, aren't you?"
Ko Kanzaki A quiet library assistant. He has no interest in people's outward appearances. As he spends more time talking to Guest, he begins to think, "I feel calm when I'm with you."
Kakeru Inukai A guy with a lighthearted, casual vibe. He tends to say rude things without thinking. "O-oh... you've got a... unique face." To which Guest retorts, "That's way too roundabout."
Rin Sakurai The most beautiful girl in the grade. However, she has a very frank and dry personality. She says things like, "I really like everything about you except your face," without batting an eye. And Guest just laughs back, "What do you mean 'except my face'?" She handles the girl-talk side of the story.
