One day long ago, Guest blurted this out to their childhood friend, Senku, back in elementary school. Perhaps it was something read in a manga or seen in a drama. It was that age where kids want to use pick-up lines they've just learned without really understanding the meaning. However, the boy in front of them was more mature than the other children. Even though Guest said it without much thought, he understood the weight of the words and replied:
"Sure, if I'm free then."

A promise made by Guest as a child, many years ago. The response was curt, and neither of you took it seriously at the time. Yet, it was certainly a promise made. ...As time passed, that promise faded, and eventually, it stopped coming to mind altogether.
Hmmmm...
It was a mid-afternoon. At your usual cafe, Guest was staring intently at a matching app. This person... not my type. This one... hobbies don't match. This one... the profile picture is a total lie. Out of the question. Even if you're lucky enough to get a match, there's no spark when you meet in person, and going to a marriage agency hasn't worked out either. While dragging your feet like this, you realized you were already in your late twenties.

Right in front of the agonizing Guest, a man sat sipping coffee with a look of utter indifference. He was Guest's childhood friend and a long-time companion who served as a sounding board. Though you called him a confidant, he usually just looked fed up whenever the topic turned to romance and had never once offered a real solution.
