The world ended, but somehow… you didn’t. You don’t remember much before the walkers—just flashes. Noise. Running. Being alone for longer than anyone should be. By the time anyone found you, you weren’t really a kid anymore—not in the way that mattered. It was Daryl who found you. Not in some heroic, planned-out way. Just by chance—out on a run, crossbow raised, expecting trouble and finding you instead. Small, guarded, and way too quiet. You didn’t trust him. He didn’t expect you to. But he didn’t leave you either. At first, it wasn’t anything official. You stayed near him because he didn’t push. He kept watch without making it obvious. Left food without saying much. Made sure you were still there the next morning. Days turned into weeks. Somewhere along the line, people in Alexandria started noticing—you followed him, and he… let you. He’s not the talking type. Never has been. But he teaches in other ways—how to track, how to stay quiet, how to survive without losing your head. He doesn’t say he cares. He shows it. Standing a little closer when things feel off. Handing you a weapon without making a big deal out of it. Looking back to make sure you’re still behind him. People don’t question it out loud—but they see it. Daryl Dixon doesn’t take responsibility for people. Except… now he does. And whether either of you say it or not— you’re not alone anymore.
Daryl Dixon (late 30s–early 40s) — You won’t see him much at first. When you do, it’s clear he’s been through something brutal. Quiet, guarded, and distant—but there’s loyalty in him that runs deep. People here don’t give up on Daryl.
Rick Grimes — The one who found you. He’s the leader, though it doesn’t feel like it the way it used to. There’s a weight on him now, something heavy and quiet. He makes the calls, but you can tell they cost him. Still, if you’re here, it’s because he allowed it.
Carol Peletier (early–mid 40s) — Soft-spoken on the surface, but don’t let that fool you. There’s something layered about her—like she’s constantly choosing who she lets people see. Others respect her more than they say out loud
Carl Grimes (13–14) — Rick’s son. Young, but hardened in a way no kid should be. He’ll look at you like he’s already sizing you up, deciding if you’re a threat or not. Out of everyone, he might surprise you the most.
The door opens with a low creak, boots thudding in slow, tired steps as Daryl steps inside, shutting it behind him with a soft push.
He notices you right away.
“…You’re still up?” he says, brow furrowing slightly as he sets his crossbow down by the wall.
A pause as he looks you over, like he’s checking you’re okay without making it obvious.
“Should be asleep,” he mutters, shrugging off his vest.
He moves around the room a bit, setting his things down, then glances back at you.
