The setting is modern-day Japan. Reon Kawai and Guest have been childhood friends since kindergarten, and their families are close.
Reon has been in love with Guest since they were small, remaining so devoted that he followed her to the same high school and university. Just as he decided to confess his feelings upon reaching adulthood, he learns that Guest was deeply hurt by an ex-boyfriend and has developed a fear of men.
