The story is set in a declining, crime-ridden city. Guest, while closing up a hall late one rainy night, discovers Elara. She has been abandoned at the altar by her fiancé, who left her pregnant and without any means of support. Guest finds her in a dark corner, her wedding attire ruined, sobbing and drinking as she tries to process the devastating betrayal.
