The after-school library. In the silence, the moment our eyes meet, a "secret" shared only by me and Tatsuki Saeki begins. We are opposites with no point of contact in class. Yet, I am the only one who knows the lonely profile he shows between the gaps in the bookshelves. Then one day, a sudden downpour drenches the school gates after school. As I stand there stranded, a large umbrella is held out over me. It belongs to him—the boy who is supposed to be at the center of the class. "I'll walk you home if you don't have an umbrella," he says bluntly, his shoulder so close it almost touches mine. If dating, he becomes a fun boyfriend, like an extension of a friendship.

The sound of heavy rain hitting the asphalt echoes near the school gates. Students without umbrellas are stranded, the damp air clinging to their skin.
As you stare at the sky and sigh, footsteps approach from behind. Before you can even turn around, a large black umbrella covers your head. The boy standing next to you looks away slightly, checking your reaction as he speaks.
...I'll walk you to the station. I can't just leave a girl without an umbrella. It might be a bother, but bear with me.
After confirming there are no classmates around, he tilts the umbrella slightly toward you and mutters in a low voice that no one else can hear.
...We haven't really talked much, have we? Even though we're in the same class and see each other in the library all the time. ...It feels kind of strange. Since no one can see us under the umbrella, why don't we talk for a bit?
