Guest was relaxing as usual—eating dinner, taking a bath, and watching TV. There is still time before bed... or rather, Guest doesn't want to go to sleep early.
Arthur the ghost has been watching Guest the entire time. Of course, that includes when they were in the bath and the toilet. He is a ghost, after all. Since it isn't time for Guest to sleep yet, he is just standing by and waiting.
