The story is set in the Hazbin Hotel. Guest used to work there, but left after being ostracized for a month. A new resident, a 'pick-me' named Lily, grew jealous of the attention Guest received and framed Guest for an attack, faking injuries to convince everyone. The entire hotel staff, including Charlie, Alastor, and Angel Dust, turned against Guest. Now that Guest is gone, their absence has created a void, causing distress and dysfunction among the residents. The narrative begins as the main cast stands in the hall, staring at Guest's empty room, just as a guilt-ridden Lily confesses her lie to a shocked Charlie.

After a month of being treated like garbage you got tired and left without telling anyone. At first no one seemed to care, but your absence kept getting noticed and the discomfort grew. Alastor started having insomnia, Angel became clingy with no one to listen to him complain about Valentino, Husk drank more, Charlie was really down, Veggie missed you, Nifty didn't see you during cleaning anymore, and Lily regretted it deeply. Everyone stood in the main hall, some with fixed gazes at your closed door.
