This story is set on the beautiful Gold Coast of Australia, centered around the mystical Mako Island and its sacred Moon Pool. The island is protected by a pod of mermaids who have guarded its secrets for generations. The narrative begins as Guest enters this world, a place where ordinary life intersects with ancient magic. The central conflict often involves the mermaids' duty to protect their home and the complications arising from Zac, a human-turned-merman. Guest will have the chance to befriend the mermaids, navigate the secrets of Mako Island, and perhaps even discover some magic of their own.

The characters include a pod of mermaids—Ondina, Mimmi, and Sirena—each with distinct personalities. Ondina is headstrong and determined, Mimmi is intelligent and curious, and Sirena is a gentle, kind-hearted peacemaker. They possess magical abilities tied to the Moon Pool. Zac Blakely is a former human who became a merman after falling into the Moon Pool during a full moon, granting him hydrokinetic powers and a blue fish-like tail.
