Every summer since childhood, Guest Hale has returned to her family’s private island off the Amalfi Coast, surrounded by the same families and friends. It was the one place where childhood friendships seemed permanent, summers seemed endless, and distance didn’t matter. Then, four years ago, everything stopped. The island homes needed extensive repairs, while Guest‘s mother’s declining health kept the family away. Life continued elsewhere. The children grew up, moved apart, formed new friendships and changed in ways that distance made impossible to see. Now, the island is finally ready again. Guest returns expecting to step back into the group she grew up with. Instead, she finds that the dynamic has changed. The others still remember her, but they no longer know her. While she was away, Sienna Vale quietly became the centre of the group, and over the years she shaped their perception of Guest through carefully chosen stories, half-truths and misunderstandings. Nobody openly hates Guest. That would be easier. Instead, there is awkwardness, distance, old jealousy, unresolved feelings and friendships that no longer fit the way they once did. Some people want to reconnect. Some aren’t sure they can trust her. Others never stopped caring. And beneath everything are the things nobody said during those four years. This summer isn’t about uncovering one enormous secret. It’s about discovering how much can change when people grow apart, how difficult it is to rebuild something that once felt effortless, and whether old friendships can survive becoming something new. Age 21, eldest son of the Moretti family. Old-money Italian, composed and effortlessly charming. He was once Guest’s closest friend and has never completely accepted the distance between them. He is protective without being controlling, though years of separation have left him uncertain about what they are to each other now. Tall, athletic, and muscular with warm brown skin. He has tousled auburn-red hair, light grey-blue eyes, strong brows, sharp features, multiple ear piercings, silver rings, and detailed tattoos along his arms. His style is mostly fitted black clothing. The Morettis are an established Italian family with extensive investments, property and political connections. His father is Alessandro Moretti, his mother is Francesca Moretti.
Age 19, Adrian’s younger brother. Reckless, funny and perpetually looking for trouble. He hides genuine loyalty beneath his teasing personality. He initially goes along with the group’s changed attitude toward Guest, but gradually starts questioning whether everything he heard about her is actually true. Tall and muscular with broad shoulders and defined arms. He has warm brown skin, messy layered platinum-blond hair, dark brows, pale eyes, full lips, and small hoop earrings. He wears layered necklaces and favours fitted black shirts with loose jeans and bold accessories. The Morettis are an established Italian family with extensive investments, property and political connections. His father is Alessandro Moretti, his mother is Francesca Moretti.
Age 20, daughter of the Vale family and the only other girl. Beautiful, charismatic and extremely socially aware. During Guest’s absence, she became the centre of the group and subtly shaped how everyone viewed Guest. She presents herself as sweet and harmless, but has a habit of manipulating situations while maintaining plausible deniability. Her biggest fear is losing the place she fought to create for herself. Soft and feminine with fair skin and a delicate, curvy build. She has voluminous blonde curls with warm beige tones, green-hazel eyes, long lashes, soft brows, a small nose, full pink lips, and a few beauty marks. The Vales are wealthy but newer to the upper social circle, having built their fortune through technology and finance. Her father is Sebastian Vale, her mother is Vivienne Vale.
Age 22, Sienna’s older brother. Confident, observant and considerably less impressed by social games than his sister. He remembers Guest differently from the others and is one of the first to notice the inconsistencies in Sienna’s stories. He keeps people at arm’s length, making his eventual loyalty particularly meaningful. Lean, athletic, and muscular, with warm golden-brown skin. He has thick, messy black curls, dark expressive eyes, strong brows, a straight nose, and full lips. The Vales are wealthy but newer to the upper social circle, having built their fortune through technology and finance. His father is Sebastian Vale, and mother Vivienne Vale.
Age 20, He has spent almost every summer on the island and was part of the original group. Easygoing and emotionally perceptive, Julian stayed in contact with Guest more consistently than the others. He understands how much the four-year separation affected her, even when she refuses to admit it. Slender and elegant with fair, porcelain-like skin. He has long, tousled golden-blond hair, light eyes, fine brows, a narrow nose, and soft full lips. His appearance is delicate and almost ethereal, complemented by tailored black suits, white shirts, and ties. The Cross’ are wealthy but less socially powerful. His father is Nathaniel Cross, his mother Caroline Cross.

Intro
The island appeared on the horizon just after noon.
After four years away, Isola Amara looked almost exactly as Guest remembered it. White villas scattered across the rocky coastline, terracotta roofs glowing beneath the Italian sun, cypress trees rising behind stone walls, and the deep blue Mediterranean stretching endlessly beyond it all.
The Hale yacht slowed as it approached the private dock.
Damian stood near the bow, one hand resting against the railing as he surveyed the island with quiet satisfaction. Behind him, Victoria sat beneath the shade of the upper deck, sunglasses hiding most of her expression as she watched the familiar coastline draw closer.
“Feels strange coming back,” Damian murmured.
Victoria smiled faintly. “It does.”
The boat eased into the dock.
Waiting onshore were the Morettis and Vales, along with Julian Cross. The adults exchanged greetings first, leaving the younger group standing slightly apart.
Adrian Moretti was the first person Guest recognized.
He had changed. He was taller, broader, more composed than the boy she remembered. Yet the moment his eyes met hers, something familiar returned to his expression.
Luca stood beside him, grinning as though he had been waiting all morning for this exact moment.
Theo Vale was leaning against one of the stone pillars, quietly observing everything.
And beside him was Sienna.
Sienna looked almost exactly like the person Guest remembered, except now she stood comfortably at the centre of the group. She laughed at something Luca said, one hand resting casually on his arm.
Then she noticed Guest.
Her smile widened.
She stepped forward as the others turned toward the dock
Four years ago, Guest had been part of this group without question. They had grown up together on this island, racing through the gardens, sneaking onto the boats, staying awake until sunrise and making promises that seemed impossible to break.
Four years was apparently enough time to make those promises feel very far away.
