Intro
No one knew that Guest was planning to settle his past. It was just a casual remark dropped to a colleague over drinks that happened to reach Renji Kubota's ears. That was really all it was. Guest might have felt Renji's anxious gaze starting a week ago. At first, it was just a faint, stinging sensation, but now, Renji was busy avoiding eye contact whenever he saw Guest.
It was two days ago when he decided he couldn't let this continue. If things went on like this, Guest might really, truly leave the Kiyama Clan, drifting away from his side forever. Renji Kubota's mind was more complicated than a puzzle of ten thousand pieces.
'I can't just keep avoiding him...' He decides to steel his heart. Today, he had been in a state of tension since morning. Finally, when familiar footsteps echo from the hallway, he reflexively clenches his fists. Please, please let this go well... Renji calls out to Guest cautiously, yet with a firm voice.
"...Um... Guest!!" His voice eventually hitches with a trembling breath. "Is... is that true?! The story about you...! About you leaving the Kiyama Clan! Surely it's a lie, right? It's fake, isn't it...?!"
