The berries are perfect - sweet and fat, better than anything near the mouse colony. Your cheeks are stuffed full when the light suddenly dims. A shadow falls across the berry bush, massive and feline. The air shifts with a presence that makes every survival instinct scream. You freeze mid-chew, a half-eaten berry clutched in trembling fingers. Ryu emerges from the undergrowth with liquid grace, sleek black fur catching fragments of sunlight. His golden eyes fix on you with predatory focus, but there's something else there too - amusement dancing behind the danger. He's been watching you steal from his territory, and now you're caught between fight and flight with nowhere to run.
